FAQs - payments
Why is using Western Union® Business Solutions Western Union Business Solutions student payment portal service better than using my bank?
If you use your bank to make the payment directly to University of Tasmania, your bank may send an international payment without you knowing what the rate of exchange is. This may not only cost you more, but may also result in unforeseen additional bank charges. Using Western Union Business Solutions student payment portal, you are assured of a guaranteed amount to pay in your own currency before you pay. You can also rest assured that University of Tasmania will receive your fees in full.
Do I need to provide my University's Bank Details?
No. You only need the local bank details that will be provided to you as a PDF through the Western Union® Business Solutions service. Western Union Business Solutions holds our bank details and all payments will be allocated accordingly using individual student ID numbers.
Can I make a transfer via my own bank?

You can use your own bank to make this transfer to the Western Union Business Solutions account. Make sure that your bank sends you the reference number you have been given. This helps to ensure your tuition fee is easily identifiable by University of Tasmania and your registration does not incur any delay.
Which fees can I pay using this service?
This service can be used to make payments for all invoices on your student fees account including your initial fee deposit and health insurance when you accept your offer through to your fees throughout your degree.
I can find my home country but it doesn't let me use my home currency?
Unfortunately due to international and domestic banking regulations some currencies are unable to be traded on the open market or as part of this service. Where your country does appear as an option but the currency is unavailable, the system will default to an alternative currency to use.
