Higher Degrees By Research (PhD and MRes)

The PhD in Regional Development at the University of Tasmania is offered exclusively through the Institute for Regional Development.  The IRD also has affiliate students studying within other University of Tasmania Schools or Institutes, whose work also focuses on some aspect of regional development.

Our PhD candidates have typically had extensive community, regional or international development experience. They bring practical knowledge and insights to their academic work, to produce research that is both academically rigorous and relevant to the real concerns of regional communities.
