"Rural-Urban Linkages and Local Development"
Megerssa's research focuses on rural economic development processes with attention to the linkages and networks between and among rural and urban areas. Rural and urban development processes have often been theorised separately, and development policy has often had an 'urban bias' or a 'rural bias'. Yet it is increasingly recognised that there are dynamic interrelationships between urban and rural areas.
This research project seeks to explore the nature and impacts of economic linkages between Nekemte town and its hinterland in Oromia region, Ethiopia.
