The backup and retrieval of corporate and research files is an enterprise service provided by ITR to the University. The backup process includes daily incremental change backup of files, weekly full backup of files and routine archiving of data.

Files can be restored from an extensive archive of disk and tape storage. The file name, location and retrieval date are required to perform this service.

Standard service includes

• Back up of all files stored in the above locations
• Archive of files stored in the ITR file Storage
• Retrieval of files from the ITR file Storage (file name, location and date required)
• Storage and backup of mailboxes.

This service does not include

• Backup, archive or retrieval of files stored on local PC/notebook hard drives
• Backup, archive or retrieval of files stored on mobile devices.

How to request this service

• Storage, backup and archiving are automated ITR processes
• Retrieval of files is requested through the Service Desk.

Customer responsibilities

• Customers who request the restoration of files must provide the file name, location and retrieval date of the files to restore.
• • This restoration could take up to five business days to complete, depending on the complexity of the restore request.

Support commitments

ITR Infrastructure and operations team monitor file storage and backup systems to ensure data is secure and infrastructure provides capacity and business continuity. Monitoring is automated with event alerts and weekly reports, supplemented with ad hoc analysis.
