The UTAS VPN system provides secured authenticated access to internal UTAS resources via the internet. This allows members of the University, once they have installed and configured the VPN software, to login to the VPN service to remotely access services normally blocked outside of the UTAS network. UTAS members can therefore work from home or elsewhere and access their files and documents stored on internal servers, access HR, Finance and Student Systems, connect to network enabled equipment etc.
This service is also available to external parties who, upon successful application, can connect to equipment or applications that they may be supporting remotely.
This service does not include:
The customer is responsible for maintaining the computer used to connect to the VPN service to ensure that operating systems and applications are up to date, as well as the installation and regular update of a suitable anti-virus/malware application.
The Service Desk will support the customer with the installation and configuration of the VPN client software. The Service Desk will also support the customer with connection issues or VPN service failure.
The customer will be advised via their normal UTAS email address of any planned or unplanned interruptions to service.
