The following is a guide for users of mobile devices on a UTAS Corporate mobile plan. Mobile devices include smartphones such as iPhones, HTC or Samsung phones; 3G enabled tablets such as iPads; USB 3G/4G modems; and 3G/4G WiFi access points such as Novatel MiFi or Telstra Ultimate products.
These devices provide internet access which can include access to your corporate email, access to shared drives via the UTAS VPN, browser access to Internet websites, access to software update services such as Microsoft Update. When accessed these services contribute to your data usage and it should be noted that upload traffic as well as download traffic are included in the total. Modern devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones have many applications running in the background, which may also contribute, to your data usage without you being aware of them.
