Dear Staff and Students,
Please be advised that a Phishing email is currently circulating the University's email system and soliciting account information from University members. The message claims that account information is needed due to an issue with lost user data following a failed database upgrade. The message goes on to claim that those who do not supply their details may risk account closure.
It has been seen in the following form:
Attn: Webmail Users,
We are really sorry for the inconvenience caused,we are having problem with our database due upgrading and we cant find your data,please we need to rectify this problem within the next 24 hours, if not you would not be able to send or receive email with your webmail account address.
Fill the form below so we can rectify this problem as soon as possible.
Note: Your data and information will not be interfered with or tampered we will just record your data back into our data base and send you an email and after 24hours.

Warning!!! Account owner that refuse to send this information after one week of receiving this warning will lose his/her mail account permanently.
IT Services advises all University members that this email is false and should be ignored or deleted. The University does not solicit account information via email, nor do we require any person to submit their password/security details as part of email service management processes.
Any member who has responded to this email already is advised to call the IT Service Desk on extension 1818 and immediately change their password, or make use of the University's online password change application at https://password.its.utas.edu.au/.
