Dear all,
Please be advised that a spam email is currently circulating the University's email system and is soliciting account information from University members. The message claims that users must validate their email accounts to ensure they are not deactivated.
It has been seen in the following form:
Dear. University of Tasmania, Australia Account owner,
To complete the verification process for the year 2009 for the upgrading of our account to stipulat to standard, we urge you to please answer this message and enter your ID and password in the space( ), you have to do it before the next 48 hours from receipt of
This e - mail, or your web mail account will be de-activated and erased from our database.

IT Services are blocking outbound email to emacompany @ prodigy.net, which has been seen as the reply address in examples received. Please advise the IT Service Desk if you see this message with any other reply address.
As per usual, please advise all University members that this email is false and should be ignored/deleted.
Any member who has responded to this email already is advised to call the IT Service Desk on extension 1818 and immediately change their password.
