The University of Tasmania’s data communications network infrastructure provides staff and students with access to the University intranet, the Internet, email, and other network resources from all areas of the University, statewide. Connection of computers to the University network infrastructure is a collaborative effort between Communications Technologies staff and departmental computing support officers.
Off-Campus Access Staff and students can access internal University resources (including Library databases and catalogue) from home through their Internet Service Provider (ISP) via the use of VPN technology. Secure access to staff and student email accounts off campus is provided via webmail.
Usage Etiquette The use of the University’s data networks is regulated by the Information Technology Facilities Usage Guidelines. If you encounter any usage which is in breach of these guidelines please report it to the head of the relevant school, department or division, the Service Desk, or to IT Resources.
