Current Programs
A number of programs are currently supported by the High Performance Computing centre including :
- Computational Tools and Techniques program
- Educational, Outreach and Training program
- Grid Program
- Research Consultancy
- Commercial User support
Facilities
High performance computing activities at UTAS currently centre on the SGI Altix ICE 8200, 64 node compute cluster housed within ITR's central data centre in Hobart.
System
The ICE 8200 currently offers 512 Xeon cores (Nehalem and Harpertown based), over 1Tb of useable memory (across 64 nodes) and 72TB (raw) of disk storage. Further mass storage is provided by a Spectra Logic LTO4 based tape library with a storage capacity of up to 1 Peta byte.
Software Suite
The following software suite is available.
- CFX (fluid dynamics)
- Gaussian (computational chemistry)
- Octave and R (mathematical)
- Intel C and Fortran compilers
- NetCDF libraries
- IDL
- Python libraries
- Ferret
