Student rooms vary in size from small to very large. Although some rooms have ensuites for an extra charge, most residents share bathroom facilities. The College has a limited number of long beds for taller residents which although not guaranteed should be requested when returning the signed Residential Agreement and Acceptance Fees.The Handbook provides further details.
All rooms have phones and internet connections. Internal calls within the college and Internet access to local university sites are free. All other calls are charged.
The college runs conference programmes and summer schools during the long vacation and as a result accommodation is limited at best and may simply not be available. Please contact the office regarding your needs. Note that outside of the normal academic year a per day rate applies (accommodation with full board) or a rate per week the same as that of the Residential Agreement you have chosen (see the Handbook) for further details. This rate applies to Jane students only.
All students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities including inter-collegiate sports, music, TSO concerts and theatre. Bush walking trips and outings to other places of interest are arranged and College Fellows on occasion organise events and trips for students.
There is a tennis court and a small gym at the college together with eightball, billiards and table tennis tables, all of which are freely available to students. Further and more extensive facilities, including squash and tennis courts, oval etc are available at the university. The Student Club organises a range of inter collegiate sports and each year the College presents an art show and a play.
There is a wide range of accommodation within easy reach of the college either on foot or by car. Please contact the office for suggestions.

Jane Franklin Hall provides a free bus service to the university as well as to the Clinical School, Art School and the Conservatorium of Music. If this does not fit in with your schedule, there is also public transportation to all of these.
Many students use bicycles on campus. Locked bicycle sheds are available for storage.
Hobart has an adequate bus system with a range of concession fares for which students may be eligible. Bus service on weekends is sparse.
Taxis are readily available. Fares are higher on weekends and at night. The fare from Jane Franklin Hall to the city is approximately $10.00.

The catering staff can provide a variety of special meals including gluten-free, vegetarian and halal. For more information view the menu at Jane.
Yes. The kitchen has a system for the ordering and provision of a meal with facilities for reheating as necessary. However late meals are not available on Formal Dinner nights.

Fees are paid in advance by cash, bank draft, bank cheque, credit card and Australian residents may apply to pay by DDR. For more information view the Forms Directory.

Accommodation Fees cover provision of a study bedroom, single bed, furniture, full board with 21 meals per week, electricity, water, gas, heating, Academic Development Programme, internet access, access to residential and non-residential staff and the provision of a bus service to and from the Hobart campuses and 24 hour access to laundry washing machines and dryers (residents are required to provide their own washing powder).
Fees do not cover cleaning of your room, University fees, books, stationery, printing, photocopying, telephone call charges, internet usage charges, linen, room deposit and academic gown (see Fees Schedule). Rooms with an en-suite and some very large rooms attract an extra charge.
