Libby lectures in Journalism, Media and Communications at the University of Tasmania. Before joining the university in 2002, she was a journalist, working both on staff at a number of Australian newspapers, including the Sunday Age and Melbourne Herald, and as a contributing writer to magazines and newspapers, including Good Weekend and The Age. Her special interests as a journalist were politics, environment and ethnic affairs, for which her work was commended with a Media Peace Awards special citation. She has also worked as an editor with Penguin Books. Her undergraduate degree is from ANU, majoring in prehistory and physical geography, and she has a PhD in Media and Communications from the University of Melbourne.

 

 

Global Environmental Journalism Initiative

The University of Tasmania’s Journalism, Media and Communications Program is delighted to announce its participation in the Global Environmental Journalism Initiative (GEJI), which has won $1.4 million in funding for student exchanges between Australia and Europe to study Environmental Journalism.

The exchanges are being funded by the European Union and the Australian Government. Each selected student receives $8500 towards the exchange. The program will run for the next three years.
