Prior to joining the School of English, Journalism and European Languages, Kate was a media producer working across radio, television and the internet. She spent seven years at the ABC producing everything from radio features to multi-camera events and television documentaries. She began her career as a science journalist working on The Science Show (ABC Radio National) and Quantum (ABC-TV).
Kate is passionate about documentary (in whatever form). Her PhD thesis ‘Beyond the Frame: A Study in Observational Documentary’ looks at the practices of documentary production and the relationship between filmmakers and their subjects.
