The University of Tasmania and specifically, the Law Faculty has welcomed international students from all parts of the world since the early 1900s. As the International Students’ Officer of the Tasmanian University Law Society, it is my honour to welcome you to your first step into a legal career.

I have had a wonderful experience so far being an international student studying law at UTAS. This is partly due to the fact that I personally make an effort to engage in both academic and extra-curricular activities and events organised by the Law Faculty. I have gained a lot from doing so and would urge every international student to do likewise to benefit from a holistic experience while pursuing your academic goals at the Law Faculty.

I would also like to take the opportunity to give you a brief overview of Tasmanian University Law Society (TULS).The Society is run by law students themselves and plays a big role in providing students with this holistic experience at the Law Faculty. They have consistently provided students with opportunities to participate in activities from social events to educational seminars and competitions, and even excursions to explore Tasmania.

Last but not least, the responsibility of the International Students’ Officer is to cater to the needs of international students. So, the upcoming International Students’ Officer for the year 2013 and I will be happy to be at your service and your first-point should any concerns arise during your time here.
