Caroline SchaerI studied law at the University of Tasmania from February 2009 until June 2009, as part of an exchange program between UTAS and my home university (University of Lucerne, Switzerland).
My experience at the UTAS Law School was a very positive one. As the Law School is rather small, it was easy to get in touch with professors and fellow students and I still had quite a variety of courses, especially international law courses, to choose from. The lectures were always well organised and the technical possibilities used made studying easier. I got involved with various clubs and societies and the Law School arranged a number of events and trips around the city, and even around the country, for international students, and those events were great fun. The Law School even arranged a meeting with the Swiss Ambassador in my first week in Tasmania.
The best part about studying at UTAS was the fact that people on and off campus were always very friendly, helpful and relaxed, which made me feel at home right away.
I am currently employed as a junior research assistant at a university and finishing my studies in Lucerne. I am hoping to start legal practice in September 2010. This will include an internship at a law firm as well as a court, and is a requirement for the admission to the bar exams.
