I joined UTAS through a twinning program between UTAS and KDU College, Malaysia. The first three years of my course were completed in Malaysia, with the final year completed at UTAS. It is challenging trying to adapt to a different teaching style and lifestyle in Tasmania.
The Law Faculty is especially helpful, with the organising of a Bridging Program. The program provides assistance to new international students in adapting and integrating with Australian culture. It also gives a head start to international students in subjects such as Evidence, where research skills are essential to facilitate studies. The Bridging Program also introduces international students to staff, providing the opportunity to build up confidence.
Another achievement of the Law Faculty is the establishment of the International Student Support Program (ISSP). Special tutorials are organised for international students, with excellent tutors providing support and guidance. Consultation hours are also allocated for the benefit of the students. I personally benefited a lot from the ISSP tutorials, as it helped me refresh my memory in the subject, and also cleared up uncertainty during lectures.

Lecturers and students in the Law Faculty maintain a close relationship, as the lecturers are friendly and approachable. Consultations are always welcomed by the lecturers. The administrative staff are always extremely helpful, doing their best to assist students. I could not agree more that choosing to study in UTAS is one of the best choices I’ve made so far.
