Expressions of Interest: Sessional Teaching 2018

The Faculty of Law, University of Tasmania is currently ranked 61st in the world and 6th in Australia. In addition to undertaking leading legal research the Law School needs to remain at the forefront of legal education. This includes appointing high-quality sessional teachers who can deliver a rich learning environment to the undergraduates of today and make a positive contribution to meeting the overall course goals of the degree.

The roles:

Expressions of Interest are sought for Sessional Unit Coordinators and Primary Lecturer in the areas of:

Law 252 Foundations of Private Law (Semester 1)

Law 250 Constitutional Law (Semester 2)

Law 204 Administrative Law (Semester 2)

LAH 401 Honours Legal Research Methods (Semester 1 and 2)

Law 255 Legal Reasoning (Semester 2)

Lecture and Unit assistance (a number of lectures, marking, tutorial support etc)

Law 252 Foundations of Private Law (Semester 1)

Law 451 Civil Procedure (Semester 2)

Law 204 Administrative Law (Semester 2)

Law 250 Constitutional Law (Semester 2)

Law 352 Criminal Law B (Semester 2)

Law 658 Sex Crimes and Criminals (online Semester 1 and 2)


Tutors are also needed for a number of units. If interested in a part time tutoring role please indicate subjects you can tutor in and times and days that you are available. Normally tutorials are between 9am – 5pm.

The Qualifications the Person must have:

To be considered for a unit coordination, primary lecturing role, the applicant must have an LLM or higher academic qualification. For tutoring roles, an honours qualification in the law degree is needed as a minimum.

Salary range:

Casual rates are applicable. See payment details.

We need an Expression of Interest with a maximum:

  • ONE page covering letter outlining your teaching interests and preferred teaching positions (e.g. unit coordinator, tutor).
  • TWO page selective CV including name and contact details.
  • TWO page folio outlining previous teaching experience.
