Since mid-2004 I have been a Senior Lecturer at the University of Tasmania Law School. Previously I worked for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (1989-2004) which included leading a number of Australian delegations to negotiations on multilateral environment agreements while working as the First Secretary for the Australian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva (1996-1999). I am a previous member of the editorial team of the Encyclopaedia of Public International Law (R.Bernhardt [ed.]), undertaken while a research scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law, Hiedleburg, Germany (1985 – 1987). During 2011 I was a visiting fellow at the Australian Centre for International Law and Public Law (ANU) and gave guest lectures at the University of Oxford Centre for Enterprise and the Environment as well as the Merton Centre for European and International Law at the Goethe University of Frankfurt, Germany. I am currently writing a book Justice for Future Generations, Climate Change and International Law (Edward Elgar Press, forthcoming). I am currently the Faculty Advisor of the University of Tasmania Law Review (UTLR) and coach of the UTAS Jessup moot team.
