Innovative developments in international fisheries law and their contribution to improving the effectiveness of RFMOs and other environmental regimes

Ms Holly Matley

This seminar draws on the author’s experience as the legal advisor to various Australian delegations and fisheries organisations to discuss compliance monitoring schemes and illegal, unreported and unregulated vessel lists adopted by various regional fisheries management organisations, and their contribution to improving overall organisational effectiveness.

Holly Matley is a Senior Legal Officer in the Office of International Law within the Australian Attorney-General’s Department, providing advice to Government across a broad spectrum of public international law issues, including law of the sea and international environmental law.
