The UTAS Animal Law Conference 2013 will provide a multidisciplinary outlook on a range of topics in the animal law space. This includes the very topical issue of live export, animals and consumer law, comparative animal law and the regulations that surround animal law.

The conference has secured a variety of impressive speakers, with speakers coming to Tasmania from universities around Australia (ANU, Griffith University, University of Queensland and Bond), as well as one speaker from the US (University of New Mexico).

The Conference will run over one weekend in January (19th-20th), featuring the following:

• Keynote address from an international guest speaker (Professor Marsha Baum from the US)
• Public Q and A on live export (Professor Clive Phillips and Dr Malcolm Caulfield)
• Two legal workshops ('Teaching Animal Law in Australia' and 'Current Challenges and Future Directions for Animal Law in Australia')
• Panel discussion (Tasmania's Animal Welfare Regulation Framework)
• Presentations from national experts

It is going to be an action packed weekend of legal discussion. If you would like to be involved, there are a variety of options available:

   • The cost is $135 (plus GST) - in total, $148.50. This includes all meals, and conference packs.

4. Attend the free public Q and A on live export

If you are unable to register as a participant or offer your assistance as a volunteer, you can attend the Q and A on live export on Saturday 19th (3.00PM).
