This list covers some of the known problems with MyLO. Please read this before contacting IT Support (Staff) or IT Support (Students).
The suggested resolutions are reliant upon your web browser being configured correctly to access the MyLO environment, web browser configuration guides can be found on the Configure your Web Browser and Computer page.
Alternatively, when you are logged into MyLO select the "Check Browser" link on your MyLO home page.

Issue: |
Java version 7 update 4 is not yet compatible with MyLO. |

Workaround: |
If you have downloaded the latest version of Java, you will get an error message within the Browser Checker in MyLO. This version of Java may cause some issues within MyLO. If you do have issues you can remove this version of Java and use the previous version 6 update 34. Version 6 update 34 can be downloaded for free here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre6-downloads-1637595.html. To remove version 7 please refer to the insturctions in this guide: http://www.java.com/en/download/uninstall.jsp |

Issue: |
The "My Computer" icon is missing when using Mozilla Firefox to upload documents into MyLO. |

Workaround: |
This issue is being caused by Firefox disabling the Java Plugins for older versions of Java due to security risks. You must install version 6 update 34 of Java for this functionality to work. This version of Java can be downloaded for free here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre6-downloads-1637595.html. Follow the instructions and then allow for the plugin to be installed on Firefox. The "My Computer" icon will now be available for you. |

Issue: |
Mozilla Firefox will not allow you to employ the "Enable HTML creator". |
|
Workaround: |
This isue occurs in versions of Firefox that are below 12. To rectify this update Firefox to the latest version. Make sure you also have version 6 update 34 of Java installed (see known issue above). |

Issue: |
Microsoft will start automatically updating Internet Explorer in January 2012 without asking a user's permission. |
|
Workaround: |
Users of Internet Explorer may at times have to update their browser settings to ensure compatibility with MyLO. For more information about these changes within Internet Explorer, please read this document. To configure your browser please see our help pages found here. |

Issue: |
Internet Explorer 9 is not a supported browser for use with MyLO. |
|
Workaround: |
If you are having problems with either IE8 or IE9 please read the instructions on the Configure your Web Browser and Computer page. |

Issue: |
Compatibility Issues with Internet Explorer 9 and MyLO. |

Workaround: |
If you have already installed IE9, please try the following:
Once you have done this you should be able to navigate into Blackboard and you course successfully. |

Issue: |
Error message: "The navigation to the page was cancelled" in Internet Explorer 8 & 9 |
|
Workaround: |
To enable mixed content within Internet Explorer you will need to go to Tools> Internet Options> Security > Internet > Custom Level... > Miscellaneous > Display mixed content> Enable>OK. |

Issue: |
Security warning: JAVA has discovered application componets that could indicate a security concern |
|
Workaround: |
While attempting to run JAVA based applet or application from MyLO (Blackboard Vista), a security warning dialog box appears.Please access this document to stop this from occurring. |

Issue: |
Adobe Presenter within MyLO issues |
|
Workaround: |
If you are trying to view Adobe Presenter within MyLO and are having issues, please access solutions (PDF 205KB) |

Issue: |
Error message: "Unable to update files in cache" |
|
Description: |
If you have recently downloaded the latest version of Mozilla Firefox - 3.6.14- and have not updated your Java Runtime Environment you will get an error message which states: "Unable to update files in cache". |

Workaround: |
To fix this problem please download the latest version of Java which can be found on their website. |

Issue: |
I recently upgraded my Java and now when I play my Impatica for PowerPoint files I can hear the sound but all is see is a white screen. |

Workaround: |
Go to the Trouble playing Impatica PowerPoint files page. |

Issue: |
Uploading file error. |
|
Description: |
When uploading a file to MyLO an error message appears. |
|
Workaround: |
Clear web browser cache AND Clear the JAVA plug-in cache AND Ensure you only have ONE version of JAVA Runtime Environment installed on your computer (Windows only) Alternatively, close the JAVA applet window and use the "Click here to select files individually" link. |

Issue: |
System Exception error. |
|
Description: |
When accessing files in a MyLO unit a System Exception error appears. |
|
Workaround: |
Clear web browser cache AND Clear the JAVA plug-in cache AND Ensure you only have ONE version of JAVA Runtime Environment installed on your computer (Windows only) |

Issue: |
General Exception error. |
|
Description: |
When accessing files in a MyLO unit a General Exception error appears. |
|

Issue: |
New Discussion Messages. |
|
Description: |
After viewing aggregated new discussion messages by selecting the "X New" link from the Discussions page e.g. (5 Messages / 5 New ) and/or responding to one message the user is returned to the Discussions page unable to access previously unresponded to 'new messges'. |

Workaround: |
View discussion messages by selecting the Discussion topic link. Thereafter select the "Unread" link in the Display options. After responding and/or reviewing a new message the user will be returned to the top of the new message list. |

Issue: |
Intermittent display problems. |
|
Description: |
Grade Book or Group Manager pages are blank OR At times the teach tab may display the student view or Build tab the teach view. |
|
Workaround: |
Ensure web browser and JAVA plugin network and connection settings are configured to use the automatic proxy configuration script at http://proxy2.utas.edu.au/cgi-bin/proxy |

Issue: |
Problems accessing My Computer when uploading an attachment. |
|
Description: |
If the My Computer icon appears as a red X when attempting to attach your assignment, the correct Java Certificate has not been installed on your computer. |
|
Workaround: |
When you click Add Attachment a popup box will appear. Click Run. This will install the certificate. If you cannot get the certificate to appear, close your browser, then reopen your browser and log back into MyLO. Attempt to submit your assignment again. The certificate popup will then appear. Please note: it may be behind your browser window so check your tool bar. Click RUN. |
