A MyLO template is simply a course shell that contains a generic "look and feel". When you request a new course for development you can request that it be based on a specific template. This has the following advantages:

• Consistent "look and feel" for students and staff.
• Much of the early development work is already done (e.g. colours, links)
• Generic information, links, icons are already included.

Some schools and faculties have produced their own templates.

Once a new course has been created from a template the designer can change, adapt, and add or remove features in the course as required. A template is simply a place to start, and is therefore not a prescriptive system that locks designers into a particlular approach.

Please note that once your course has been created, any changes to the original template will not affect your course. Templates and courses are not dynamically linked.
