Library Services for Collaborative Ventures

Collaborative ventures are defined as Ventures agreed between the University of Tasmania and other outside bodies. Some recent examples are TIAR (Tasmanian Institute for Agricultural Research) and TAFI (Tasmanian Aquaculture and Fisheries Institute). In addition there are a number of other areas of close co operation of which the major one is the collaboration between Hospitals (both State and Private) and the University's Clinical School.

In all cases staff employed in areas of collaboration fall into two categories:

  • those that are University Staff (that is, those that are on the University's payroll)

  • those that are employed by one of the co operating participants (that is, NOT on the University's payroll).

The library resources which are available differ between the two categories of staff for a variety of reasons including legal requirements of the license agreements between the University of Tasmania Library and database vendors and the regulations of the Telecommunications Act (July 1997).
