The University of Tasmania Library offers alumni members Library borrower membership free of charge.
To join:
Complete the online application form (PDF 635KB) ensuring that you:
- Read the Library Rules attached
- Print and sign your completed application form
- Bring your completed application form to any UTAS Library, or email scanned copies to Loans@lib.utas.edu.au
Note: If you don't know your Alumni ID number please contact the Alumni Office mail to : Alumni.Office@utas.edu.au - When you are registering we will set you up with a Library PIN so that you can request and manage your loans
- Cost: No fee charged
Alumni Borrowers can:
- Request items and borrow from any UTAS Library
- Request a scan of a chapter, extract or article from a print item
- Access some electronic resources when off campus and a wider range of resources when visiting the Library in person
- Obtain a reusable photocopy card at the desk, scanning is available in some libraries
Alumni Borrowers can't:
- Borrow 2 hour and 24 hour Reserve items
- Access Document Delivery Service, Bonus + or the Flexible Library Service
- Access the internet and printing through the UTAS network

University of Tasmania Library offers Corporate Borrower membership to organisations and companies.
To Join

- Up to 3 borrower cards are issued for use by individuals in the name of the organisation or company

Public use of the University of Tasmania Library
- Members of the public are welcome to visit our libraries during opening hours
- You are welcome to view our print resources within the Library
- Some electronic resources are accessible when visiting the Library in person
- All libraries offer photocopying and scanning facilities are available in some libraries
- If you would like to borrow you can join as a General Public Borrower

Step Up is a University of Tasmania Library program for Tasmanian Year 11 and 12 students. The Step Up program provides an introduction for school students to the University environment and is offered in partnership with Tasmanian Schools.
To join
Students and Staff affiliated with a partner school are welcome to join as a Step Up Borrower for free.
Complete the application form (PDF 635KB) ensuring that you:
- Provide your school email address (not hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc)
- Nominate a four digit Library PIN
- Read the Library Rules attached
- Print and sign your completed form, and have it authorised by your School Librarian
- Your School Librarian will scan and email your application to the UTAS Library
- Cost: No fee charged
Note to School Librarians: Please email group or multiple registrations 5 working days in advance of students coming to use the Library.

- Use current School ID card to borrow items from any UTAS Library

Current students and staff from TasTAFE may join the University Tasmania Library free of charge.
To join
Complete the application form (PDF 635KB) ensuring that you:
- Provide your TasTAFE email address and nominate a four digit Library PIN
- Read the Library Rules attached
- Print and sign your completed form, and have it authorised by your TasTAFE Librarian
- Your TasTAFE Librarian will scan and email your application to the UTAS Library
- Cost: No fee charged
