There are three levels of access for ARTstor users:
Logging on to ARTstor
Click on "Search and Browse for images" to begin searching the ARTstor database.
Hint: pop-up blocking software must be disabled or set to allow pop-up windows from www.artstor.org and cookies enabled.
Registering
To take advantage of the extra functionality within ARTstor (including a free Offline Image Viewer) you need to Register. Registration is free for UTas students and staff and you only need to register once using your email address and a password. Once registered you may choose to logon while using ARTstor or remain as as an unregistered 'guest' viewer (you are not required to logon each time you use ARTstor).
Hint: The email address and password required for the registration process does not have to be your UTas account.
Offline Image Viewer
The Offline Image viewer is ARTstor's tool for creating internet-independant presentations using either ARTstor's images or images from other sources. Images downloaded from ARTstor to the OIV are of a better quality than those downloaded to a non-ARTstor environment (eg. Powerpoint).
Hint: You must be currently logged on to be able to download the OIV.
Downloading the OIV software
Choose the appropriate version of the software, submit and save the file to your computer. Once downloaded you will need to install the application on to your computer:
For PC's:
Double click on the downloaded installer file and follow the prompts.
For Mac's:
Double click on the OIV_Installer.dmg icon and it will open a new window with the viewer program inside. Drag and dropp the offline image viewer program from the new window onto your desktop.
Proxy Server Settings for the OIV
To be able to connect to ARTstor from your OIV (to register the software and then download images) you will need to change the proxy server settings. To change your settings in the OIV, go to the Edit menus and choose Preferences as below:
