The Library repository (UTAS ePrints) houses UTAS Higher Degree Research theses and is part of the National Library of Australia Trove system which harvests the content from our repository maximising exposure globally.
Benefits of publishing your thesis open-access in UTAS ePrints include:
-
Increased visibility – globally. This has the potential to greatly increase citation impact, an important issue for all early career researchers. ePrints is one of the world’s repository software leaders, ensuring high discoverability and Google rankings.
-
Increased accessibility and communication – globally. Your research will be located, cited and shared more quickly.
-
Your online thesis will be assigned a permanent URL which you can use at the bottom of your email signature and mail out to other interested researchers or potential employers.
-
You will be able to monitor interest in your work through repository download statistics.
-
Future employers will know the provenance of the work because it is on the University of Tasmania website. Similarly, if questions ever arise as to the authorship or chronology of your work, these can be easily resolved because the files are time-stamped and verified by a third party - the University.
-
You will be supporting
The Open Access movement which has at its premise the principle that publicly funded research should be made available to everyone (free) as widely as possible and as accessible as possible.
