About the Royal Society of Tasmania Library |

The Library covers the subjects of natural history, science and Tasmanian history. Books are mainly standard historical works in the natural sciences.
There are about 5,000 book titles, 650 serial titles and 45,000 serial volumes in the open-access collections. The rare book collection includes some 2,200 individual titles.
The open-access and rare collections of the Royal Society of Tasmania are located on the 5th Floor, Morris Miller Library, Sandy Bay (Hobart) campus.
Access to the Royal Society of Tasmania Library is available to members of the public under the same conditions which apply to University Library collections.
Restricted loans are available to University staff and higher degree students.
The Society's open-access collections are available during Morris Miller Library opening times:
Between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday.
The Society's rare collections may only be accessed by prior appointment. Prospective clients are advised to contact the Library via: Special.Collections@utas.edu.au
Note: Material in the Rare Book Room is often fragile and permission must be obtained to to photocopy any item. Rare material may only be consulted under supervision.

Papers and Proceedings of the Royal Society of Tasmania
ePrints holds the "Papers & Proceedings" in their entirety from 1849 onwards. However, the latest two issues only are subject to rolling embargo.
Individual articles may be searched by either employing the ePrints Advanced Search option, or by using a web search engine.
The print version of the Society's "Papers and Proceedings" is still held in the Royal Society's Library (level 5 of the Morris Miller Library), as well as the Launceston and Science libraries.
Library materials are listed in the University Library online catalogue.
All open-access and rare book and journal collections are arranged by Library of Congress classification.

Serial Loans are restricted to Royal Society members, University staff and postgraduate students on the same basis as University Library policies.
Members of the Royal Society may borrow from the University Library as Special Borrowers. No fee is charged for Members. Apply at any Client Service Desk for an application form (see conditions).
