Explanation |
| Subject categories appear as a very long list on the first page. |
We'd like the list to appear in columns - the software supplier has it listed as a future enhancement. |
| Not all Informit databases are currently cross-searchable. |
We are expecting another 29 Informit databases to be cross-searchable some time in 2008. |
| A-Z list of databases is very long and onerous to navigate. |
We've asked the software supplier for navigation features in the list and they are working on it. |
| Clustering of results often doesn't add up to total results - sometimes more, sometimes less. |
Some results will appear in more than one cluster (so clusters will add up to more than total results). Some results don't contain enough info the abstract to allow clustering (so clusters will add up to less than total results.) |
| Search results imported into EndNote don't always have things in the right field. |
All records will be imported into the “generic” template. You must edit each reference to the correct template and transfer data into appropriate fields as necessary. This problem should be corrected in a future CrossSearch software upgrade. |
| Each section of MDConsult (Drugs, Journals, Patient handouts, Practice guidelines etc.) is listed as a separate database - we used to be able to search all of MDConsult together. |
We've asked the software supplier for this - they have it listed as a future enhancement. |
| Can't save searches, combine different searches or save personal lists of databases or results. |
Searching is completely anonymous - you don't log in to CrossSearch, so it doesn't know who you are and can't save things specifically for you. |
