Quicklaw
Quicklaw is a Canadian database offering online access to a range of legal sources. These include caselaw, statutes and regulations, and secondary legal materials from Canada, the U.S., and Commonwealth countries.
Quicklaw is available only to University of Tasmania staff and postgraduate students.  Access is by individual ID. Details on how to register with Quicklaw and download the the viewing software can be obtained from the University of Tasmania Law Library.

United Nations Treaty Collection Online
Includes:

  • All multilateral treaties deposited with the Secretary- General of the United Nations and those formerly deposited with the League of Nations - their latest status and a link to the full texts.
  • Bilateral and multilateral treaties registered with and published by the United Nations Secretariat in accordance with Article 102 up to a certain date - Detailed treaty references and full texts in all authentic language(s). 
  • Recently Deposited Multilateral Treaties that have been deposited but not yet published - available for viewing and downloading in some or all of their authentic languages. 

Requires the 'AlternaTIFF' browser plugin to be able to print multi-page documents.


Web of Science (ISI citation databases)
Index with some abstracts of nearly 7000 high impact journals in all subject areas
Each article indexed since1991 has links to articles cited by and citing that article.

Requires Netscape 3.0 or higher, or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or higher. 

WebSpirs is the name of the client software we use to access the ERL family of databases through the Web. In the Libraries you can also access the ERL databases through WinSpirs. WebSpirs and WinSpirs look different and are in some ways operated differently but you can do the same basic searches in both.

WestLaw International
Westlaw International offers access to the law of the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, and Canada. The database contains selected full-text case law, legislation, law reviews, law journals and treaties. Information is organised by topic and by region.

WinSpirs is the name of the client software we use to access the ERL family of databases through the library network. Access to these databases is also available through from the Library's Databases Web page using WebSpirs client software. WebSpirs and WinSpirs look different and are in some ways operated differently but you can do the same basic searches in both.
