Where do I start my research?

A good way to start your research is to define your topic by using subject dictionaries and to find background information in encyclopaedias such as:

How do I find journal articles?

The Library holds journals in print and electronic formats. The best way to access articles in these journals is by using the databases listed below. When you find an article you want to read, use the Library Catalogue and the

Business Source Premier via Ebsco
Large database with over 1100 fulltext academic journals on all aspects of Business, including tourism and economic surveys.   Also includes magazines such asTraveltrade, Business Travel World.
Covers industry profiles, company profiles and EIU country reports.

CAB Abstracts

Includes references to the literature on tourism, recreation and leisure, and environmental issues. Also covers agriculture, forestry, rural development and management of natural resources.

Co-operative Research Centre for Sustainable Tourism

Links to related sites. Research projects undertaken by CRC, newsletters, education programs and participating companies and organisations.

Department of Energy Resources and Tourism

The official Commonwealth Government of Australia site provides a range of links to related sites and information on departmental legislation, policy, publications, research and media services.

Tourism Australia

Tourism Australia is a statutory authority of the Australian Government. Promotes Australia as a tourism destination internationally and domestically and delivers research and forecasts for the sector. Includes Tourism statistics.

Pacific Asia Tourism Association

Provides information on travel and tourism in the Pacific Asia region. Includes PATA  Environment, Culture and Heritage Best Practice Papers.

World Tourism Organisation

A comprehensive media and resource centre. The site provides publications, research, speeches, travel guides and links.

How do I cite and manage my information resources

Below are guides to citation styles and other aspects of presentation. The citation styles that you use will depend on the policies of the schools that you are studying in and specific publications.  Endnote software is available from the library. The Library provides training in EndNote.
