Digital Thesis Repository

Benefits of Putting Your Thesis Online

Doctoral theses are expected to make an original contribution to scholarship and should ideally be available to other researchers and be subject to contestation. By putting your thesis online you enhance this availability.

The experience in all academic libraries is that very few hard copy theses are ever consulted and fewer still are consulted frequently. The ADT experience on the other hand is that digital theses are consulted frequently and from over 100 countries – sometimes leading to jobs or research projects.

By putting your thesis online through ADT your can simply give the URL to potential employer rather than a hard copy of the thesis, and the employer knows the provenance of the work because it is on the University website. Similarly, if questions ever arise as to the authorship or chronology of your work, these can be easily resolved because the files are timestamped and verified by a third party - the University.
