Stuart has taught a number of units for the School of Management, primarily in the area of marketing. He has taught both undergraduate and postgraduate units, and has been involved in the School of Managements international programs in Indonesia, Malaysia, Kuwait and China. Stuarts current teaching responsibilities include the following units:
Stuart joined the School of Management in 2000 as a tutor and research candidate, and since 2004 has been employed as an Associate Lecturer in Marketing. He currently teaches principles of marketing, services marketing, international marketing, and marketing management. Stuart is also on the State Council of the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI), a role he has held for three years.
Stuart’s research centres principally on strategic management and marketing issues in the tourism industry. He is currently completing his doctoral research into the strategic management of ecotourism firms, and the process by which they ensure their sustainability. He has recently started a research project on the development of place image and brands for tourism precincts. Stuart has also supervised the research of a number of honours students, the most recent of which investigated the entrepreneurial behaviour of small to medium sized tourism businesses.
