The Theoretical Physics group carries out research work in High Energy Physics with a particular emphasis on symmetry properties of elementary particles and quantum field gauge theories.

The discipline of Mathematics offers a range of courses and research supervision in statistics, and pure and applied mathematics. Mathematics provides the language that underpins technology and describes all aspects of the natural world. Mathematics provides fundamental skills in problem solving, modelling and analysis.

Physics is the fundamental science, the foundation upon which engineering and technology are built. This science is concerned with the farthest reaches of space and the tiny world of atoms and molecules. Physics provides a basis for an understanding of biology, chemistry and geology.
