The Medical Education Unit has supported the development of a suite of programs in Women's and Men's health. These include the Well-woman Check-up DVD, the Men's Health Check DVD and the Continence Training Program. The development of these resources has been led by Mr Neil Sefton.
The interactive pathology DVD is based upon 100 cases that each include history, gross and microscopic features illustrated with up to 7 images, and clinical commentary. This material draws upon resources within the Rodda Pathology Museum. [2004]
The MEU has developed Guides to Learning and Teaching in the MBBS for academic staff and students. These guides are open access and will be released over time from 2009 onwards.
The MEU has developed curriculum maps that link learning outcomes, teaching activities and assessment across the five years of the curriculum. These maps can be used to generate reports by Theme and discipline. Unit outlines describe outcomes and teaching within the major units of the course. The MEU has mapped the ALTC threshold outcomes, AMC attributes and UTAS Medical Profile.
The MEU is also supporting a rolling program of Discipline mapping. The goal is to map the current disciplinary representations within the curriculum, compare them against literature and other benchmarks, establish links between the basic and clinical sciences and make recommendations for curriculum renewal in the respective area. In 2010 the Public & Population Health and Indigenous Health mapping were completed.
