Terms of Reference

The Year 1-3 Assessment Working Party facilitates and monitors the development, implementation and evaluation of assessment procedures and makes recommendations to the MBBS Year 1-3 Curriculum Committee as necessary.

To fulfil these requirements, it:

  • Develops assessment blueprints across Years 1-3 for approval by the MBBS Year 1-3 Curriculum Committee
  • Develops assessment instruments, proformas and oversees the planning of assessment across Years 1-3
  • Oversees development of assessment for Years 1-3 – particularly in the planning, writing and review of assessment items
  • Engages with analysis of assessment data (provided by the Medical Education Unit) especially in terms of reliability and validity of instruments in practice
  • Monitors assessment results and oversees provision of feedback to students regarding their assessment performance
  • In collaboration with the MEU, monitors effectiveness of assessment and proposes improvements on the basis of that feedback
