Terms of Reference

Goal: The purpose of the Paramedic Curriculum Committee is to prepare the curriculum, teaching and learning activities and outcomes in alignment with Council of Ambulance Authorities (CAA) accreditation guidelines and processes, and identify staff development for supervision and resources required for the program.

The primary role of the Paramedic Curriculum Committee is to:

• Confirm graduate outcomes and their alignment with accreditation guidelines
• Identify specific learning outcomes and objectives for the Paramedic units
• Develop appropriate teaching and learning strategies
• Develop assessment strategies appropriate to outcomes and monitor quality and consistency across sites
• Develop and implement an evaluation plan for the period 2010-2012
• Develop an appropriate suite of student resources to support learning, including the review and recommendation of appropriate texts
• Identify and plan staff development needs for teaching and supervising staff
• Develop criteria and a list of suitable ambulance stations where clinical placements can be undertaken; and identify a range of other facilities where specific clinical placements can be undertaken
• Coordinate accreditation documentation
• Plan appropriate transition and graduate pathway options for paramedic staff
