Bachelor of Biotechnology and Medical Research
This course provides high-achieving students with a solid background in human, plant and animal biology, and the tools of modern biology and biotechnology that will equip them to become the researchers of the future in both medical and non-medical areas. The School of Medicine partners with the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology to ensure research strengths in biotechnology, including agricultural science, chemistry, forestry, food safety and plant science. Bachelor of Dementia Care
The course is the first course of its kind in Australia and promotes professional development and career enhancement for employees of the aged care industry by developing knowledge, skills and confidence in the provision of care to people living with dementia. Open to aged care workers and those interested in dementia. Applications for Semester 2 close 18 July 2013.
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
Graduates of the School of Medicine are highly respected, working throughout Australia and overseas in all areas of the profession. A number have attained leadership roles, both in professional bodies and in research. These courses are conducted within the three clinical schools: the Hobart Clinical School, the Launceston Clinical School and the Rural Clinical School.
Bachelor of Paramedic Practice
The Bachelor of Paramedic Practice is delivered on two campuses: Hobart (Tasmania) and Rozelle (New South Wales). The course is a full-time 2-year fast-track model, delivered over 3 semesters per year and designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to provide out-of-hospital emergency health care. A paramedic primarily works with each State Ambulance Service, however employment is available in mining, the defence force and industry. Intake: February 2014.
Bachelor of Paramedic Practice (Conversion)
The Bachelor of Paramedic Practice (Conversion) will facilitate currently practicing paramedics transition to the Bachelor of Paramedic Practice Degree. The course is made up of a number of paramedic specific units and additional health care units. Employees of TAS, NSW or QLD State Ambulance Services may be eligible for a HECS scholarship for study in 2013. Applications for Semester 2 close 18 July 2013.
