It provides a range of leading-edge research facilities including a dedicated PC2 laboratory floor, specialist medical teaching laboratories and general teaching spaces.
The Hobart Clinical School is based on the campus of the Royal Hobart Hospital, and has a particular focus on MBBS students on Surgery, Medicine and Clinical Specialties rotations in year 3 of the MBBS and with year-long rotations for year 4 and 5 MBBS students. The Launceston Clinical School (LCS) is co-located in the state-of-the-art, purpose-built Northern Area Health Service Launceston General Hospital.
The focus of the LCS is on ensuring students have every opportunity to reach their maximal potential as future doctors equipped to contribute meaningfully in their own communities and in the national and international arenas. The School receives an annual intake of approximately 100 students studying across years 4 and 5 of the medical course.
Medicine has a strong partnership with the Rural Clinical School, with 4 and 5 year MBBS students able to undertake year-long rotations at this site.
