The Hon Mark Butler MP, Minister for Mental Health and Ageing, will present a free public lecture at Medical Science 1.
The lecture, to be held on Wednesday 13 April, is titled: A post-Hobbesian Australia: the implications of living longer for Australian society.
The address is the fifth in a series arranged by Perspectives on Health, and will focus on the issue of Australia’s ageing population, and the challenges and opportunities posed by this seismic economic, social and political shift.
Mr Butler was elected to Federal Parliament in 2007 representing the electorate of Port Adelaide.
In September 2010, he was appointed the Australian Minister for Mental Health and Ageing, and assists the Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon.
Mr Butler has a direct portfolio responsibility for a number of Health agencies, including the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).
The lecture is being held at the Auditorium, Medical Science 1, corner of Campbell and Liverpool Streets, Hobart.
Those who would like to attend should arrive at 5.30pm for a 6pm start.
