Men and women sought to train as casual Clinical Teaching Associates
The UTAS School of Medicine is seeking women and men to be trained as casual Clinical Teaching Associates (CTA) to participate in training medical students.
Teaching Associates play a vital role in training future doctors by acting as "professional patients" who allow themselves to undergo sensitive physical examinations, including breast exams, genital exams and pap smears, by third-year medical students.
In addition, they provide feedback to the student on appropriate technique and communication skills. Each Associate is only examined by one student once per session.
No professional experience in health sciences is necessary. CTAs work within the University’s Human Simulation Program and are comprehensively trained prior to contact with students. On-going professional development is also provided.
Remuneration for both training and teaching time will be in accordance with the School of Medicine’s award for CTAs. Work sessions are held on Wednesday evenings throughout the academic year. Confidentiality is assured.
