General Responsibilities
Prof Froelich is Staff Specialist and Professor of Interventional Radiology at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) (the major Hobart teaching hospital of the School of Medicine). He is also Clinical Professor in the School of Medicine and Professor of Radiology at Philipps-University in Marburg, Germany.
As a clinician, Prof Froelich is responsible, together with other members of the Department of Medical Imaging at the RHH, for the care of patients with a wide variety of neurovascular, vascular and malignant (cancerous) disorders. Prof Froelich has a special interest in management of patients with neurovascular diseases such as cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, dural AV-fistulae and oncologic interventions. He established interventional stroke therapy and endovascular coiling of cerebral aneurysms as a Tasmanian state-wide service at the RHH in 2010; since then the RHH has performed nearly 100 such procedures. Additionally Professor Froelich is providing Radiofrequency Ablations, Chemo- and Radioembolisation procedures on a statewide basis.
Teaching Responsibilities
Prof Froelich is involved in the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, including PhD students. He is currently investigating implementation of a new interactive Radiology teaching platform within the School of Medicine.

Additional Information
Prof Froelich is author or co-author of more than 40 publications in peer-reviewed scientific literature. He has also written a number of book chapters and, with others, has been responsible for dozens abstracts of research work presented at scientific meetings and congresses. Prof Froelich is one of the authors of several books including Interventional Minimal-invasive Radiology: Biopsy procedures Thieme, Stuttgart – New York 2001. Prof Froelich has received numerous scientific merits and prizes.
Research Interests
Clinical trials regarding outcome of cerebral aneurysm treatment. Invention of a new endovascular revascularisation technique. Co-Investor of the prospective international multicentre SIRFLOX study.
