Why study the Master of Clinical Leadership?
"Informative learning is about acquiring knowledge and skills; its purpose is to produce experts. Formative learning is about socialising students around values; its purpose is to produce professionals.
Transformative learning is about developing leadership attributes; its purpose is to produce enlightened change agents."Frenk, J et al 2010 Health professionals for a new century: transforming education to strengthen health systems in an interdependent world in The Lancet Vol 376(9756) 4 December 2010.
The Master of Clinical Leadership is for clinicians wishing to move into health care improvement leadership roles. It is focussed on improving clinical outcomes through improving health care services both at the micro and macro system level. Participants learn about health systems, clinical leadership and patient safety, legal and ethical issues, increasing their own leadership capacity and implementing workplace based health care improvement initiatives. Completion at Masters level grants exemption from the first year of study for the Professional Doctorate in Health.
