Working in Public Health is about trying to make a difference. Exploring the health of whole populations allows us to examine the factors that affect health and well-being including social, environmental, cultural, economic, political and structural factors. These are the social determinants of health, which are central to improving health and reducing inequalities in health.
Why study the Master of Public Health at UTAS?
The University of Tasmania provides state-of-the-art facilities and an international reputation for excellence – which means a degree from UTAS is globally recognised.
Our lecturers have real-world experience in the subjects they teach. We have strong connections with local and national industry to offer practical learning and research opportunities. As a medium-sized university, UTAS provides students with the benefits of smaller classes, personalised attention and ready access to lecturers and tutors for advice and support. (In the 2013 Good Universities Guide, UTAS was given a 5-Star rating for staff-to-student ratios, placing it amongst the best in the country.)
