The Launceston Clinical School (LCS) has a longstanding relationship with the University of Lund in Sweden. This prestigious institution originated in 1666 and is in the world's top 100 universities. The Faculty of Health Science, University of Tasmania and the Lund University Faculty of Medicine have an Exchange Agreement (PDF 60.3 KB). This agreement provides formal opportunities for 4th-year and 5th-year UTAS students at the LCS to undertake 4-6 week elective experiences in Sweden, and for Lund students to have extended semester-long placements in Launceston.
For 5th-year students wishing to pursue an additional elective in Lund during semester time can also apply for the prestigious Lund Bursary (application details (PDF 55.7 KB)). With this award comes the expectation of scholarship, privilege, and ambassadorial representation. Indeed, undertaking a clinical experience in Lund is an outstanding opportunity and possibly life-changing. Apart form the usual application to Lund, 5th-year students need to seek approval for leave from the usual 5th-year program at the LGH. Contact Assoc Prof Kim Rooney for details.
All 4th- and 5th-year students at the LCS wishing to apply to Lund University as an international exchange student need to write to/email the following outlining who you are and when you plan to visit.
