Welcome to the School of Medicine.
Staff at the School of Medicine have a high commitment to quality teaching and research. School staff have developed a number of innovative teaching programs that have received national recognition; the School's research strength lies in a diversity of fields such as clinical, educational, biomedical and health services research. On commencement of your appointment to the University of Tasmania, the Human Resources department will have sent you a Staff Induction Booklet. This set of documents contains forms which must be completed by you so that you can be paid and your UTAS Staff Card can be issued to you. These forms include:
The Staff Induction Booklet also contains information about the way the University operates, as well as information about the various services available to you. If you have any questions about the information contained in this booklet, please ask your supervisor or manager.
The booklet also contains a checklist for your supervisor to go through with you on your first day to ensure that you have all the resources required to start work.
For staff working in the Medical Science 1 (MS1) building in Hobart, an important document to familiarise yourself with is the Medical Science 1 Building Handbook. This document outlines, amongst other topics:
The School of Medicine Website features a list of all staff within the School, and is a useful resource for providing your UTAS contact information.Academics and researchers use it to promote their teaching and research interests and enhance their online presence. It is important that you provide your information as soon as possible after commencement within the School so that other staff can get to know you quickly.
