Candidates with the Master of Health and Human Services, the Master of Clinical Leadership or the Master of Health (Medical Education) can obtain one year's credit towards the 3-year program. The forthcoming Master of Public Health will also attract this credit. Other Masters level degree candidates can apply for all or part credit on a case by case basis.

All candidates are required to undertake a workplace research project and either:
The research for both options must be largely undertaken during the period of candidature.
The thesis should demonstrate the candidate's ability for critical appreciation of current knowledge in health and build on that knowledge to make an original contribution to the field of study or practice.
An academic supervisory team will be appointed for each candidate for the conduct of their research dissertation.

Before applying for a place on the Professional Doctorate of Health program, applicants need to contact the Associate Head (Postgraduate), School of Medicine, (Stella.Stevens@utas.edu.au) to discuss ideas and agree on a potential supervisor.
After you have talked through your project with the Co-ordinator, Dr Stella Stevens, email the completed form to her (Stella.Stevens@utas.edu.au) and send the hard copies of your qualifications to the Graduate Research Office with a covering letter noting that the application has been sent to the School of Medicine.
