The University has two major campuses located in Launceston
and Hobart. It also has the North West Centre situated in
Burnie. (The School of Management teaches units in the Bachelor
of Business at the Centre.)
The University campus at Hobart is set on 100 hectares at
Sandy Bay, not far from the city centre. The campus caters
for around 7000 students. Two parts of the University that
are closer to the city centre are the Tasmanian Conservatorium
of Music and the Centre for the Arts. The clinical school
of the Faculty of Medicine is also in the city next to the
Royal Hobart Hospital.
The other campus is in Launceston, set on 50 hectares in
the suburb of Newnham, ten minutes from the city centre and
over looking the Tamar River. Around 5000 students attend
courses there. The campus has expanded in recent years, with
some Schools moving to an adjoining site once occupied by
a local high school.
