Digital Hybrid Percussion: the development of a standardized playing technique through reflective practice.
Adam’s research is focused on developing new performance techniques for modern digital percussion instruments, with the intent that a single musician can simultaneously perform the role of both kit player and percussionist. Adam’s research will address the following key questions: To what degree can digital percussion instruments be used in traditional percussion performance? What new performance opportunities arise for a single percussionist with a digital percussion setup? What is the performance potential of digital instruments beyond developing new techniques?
