BIO:
Victoria Bihun grew up in Benalla, Victoria, where she began learning the violin at the age of 5. Victoria was born into a music-loving family and her home was regularly a venue for impromptu chamber music concerts with her mother Genevieve, an accomplished pianist, and visiting guest musicians from as far away as Switzerland. During her school years she studied with Isobel Hodge and Deborah Fox and completed her Bachelor of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music with world renowned violinist, Mark Mogilevski. While undertaking her Bachelor degree, Victoria thrived in the Melbourne music scene. She was Concertmaster of both the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Symphony Orchestra (2011) and the Melbourne Youth Orchestra (2010, 2011) as well as being the recipient of many University awards. Victoria is a keen chamber musician and was the winner of the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Chamber Music Competition (2011) with her string quartet, the PMCA Quartet. She was also winner of the 2012 Hobart Eisteddfod Chamber Music Competition with her Brahms Horn Trio. Victoria moved to Hobart at the beginning of last year after being awarded the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra String Scholarship, and is a regular guest musician with the orchestra. She is currently undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Music Performance under the tutelage of Jun Yi Ma.
Victoria would like to express her sincere gratitude to the late Dawson and Margaret McDonald for their generosity and support towards young musicians.
