With a new depth of improvised sophistication, conviviality and world music cross-overs from Jamaica and South America, The Vampires are quickly becoming an icon on the Australian music scene, having received both critical acclaim and a growing following across the country. The Vampires are touring nationally throughout October to promote their fourth album TIRO.
Featuring compositions by saxophonist Jeremy Rose (Freedman Finalist, Bell Award Winner, APRA/MCA Art Music Award Finalist) and trumpeter Nick Garbett (National Jazz Award finalist), their music carries echoes of early jazz and the hay-day of bebop, to the searching sounds of modern jazz. Joining them are the powerful and dynamic rhythm section of double bassist Alex Boneham (2012 Bell Award Young Australian Jazz Artist) and drummer Alex Masso (Trio Apoplectic). www.thevampires.com.au
